Data notes:
Nov 13, 1825 - Occurred at the Red River Settlement (Winnipeg The Forks area) according to the Upper Fort Garry Post Journal (Hudson's Bay Company).
Oct 27, 1872 - Inferred via observer comment: ''Rain in the morning. A few distant peals of thunder in the SE at 11am'' from the Open Data Rescue Project.
Oct 28, 1883 - Known 2 thunderstorm days in Oct 1883 from Report of the Meteorological Service of Canada. From the observer notes at St Boniface College, retrieved at the Library and Archives of Canada in Winnipeg, lightning was reported Oct 8 and Oct 28. I assume these were t-storm days as a result.
Oct 16, 1892 - Found in the Monthly Weather Review, published by the Government of Canada.
Oct 16, 1904 - First found Oct 17 in the Monthly Weather Review. However, observer notes from St John's College showed the storm actually occurred Oct 16 at 11pm.
Nov 5, 1918 - See Monthly Record Meteorological Observations in Canada.
Oct 27, 1931 - See observer notes from St John's College, retrieved at the Library and Archives of Canada in Winnipeg.
Oct 18, 1932 - See observer notes from St John's College, retrieved at the Library and Archives of Canada in Winnipeg.
Oct 28, 1940 - See Winnipeg Free Press. A government publication showed 2 thunderstorm days this October; the Free Press helps confirm this date as being one.
Nov 13, 1973 - See Winnipeg Free Press articles from 1973 and 1975.
1976 - Thunderstorms were reported in other parts of Winnipeg on October 3, but not at the Airport. The Airport did report distant lightning but no thunder heard.
