Historical Strange Weather Events
May 28, 1969 Unusual Overnight Temperature Trends
A low pressure system moving through southern Manitoba during the overnight hours brought with it unusual temperature trends to the Winnipeg area. After falling to 13°C by midnight, temperatures began to dramatically increase as a warm front associated with the system moved through. Temperatures rose to 21°C by 5am. The air was also humid with humidex 27. The warm front was accompanied by apparently strange cloud formations with scud rolls that would typically be seen with thunderstorms. But in this case, no storms or precipitation occurred. Then, a cold front behind the low crashed temperatures back down to 13°C by 7am.
